This document contains a Hardware and Software bill of materials and a link to the VMware vSphere 4 for ESX* 4.0 “get started” installation guide, and provides the necessary items to apply for VMware* pass-through certification. VMware* vSphere 4 for ESX Server 4.0 is the industry’s first cloud operating system, transforming datacenters into dramatically simplified cloud infrastructure and enabling the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services. VMware vSphere is the next evolutionary step in IT computing; enabling customers to bring the power of cloud computing to their IT infrastructures. Building on the power of VMware* Infrastructure*, combined with the Intel® Modular Server Compute Module MFS5000SI, VMware vSphere dramatically reduces capital and operating costs, and increases control over IT infrastructures while preserving the flexibility to choose any OS, application and hardware.

The Intel® Modular Server is a simple, flexible system that provides exceptional value. It enables business in a box with seamless installation, migration, and growth capabilities. It has the ability to support up to six server compute modules, two hard disk drive options (six 3.5" SAS/SATA or fourteen SAS 2.5" hard disk drives), as well as two Ethernet Switch Modules, integrated SAN, and a management module. The Intel® Modular Server is a flexible and powerful system for the small to midsize business.
